Produces a monthly newsletter for that community (80 subscribers). Works at information networking and organizational communication. FOCUS: Cultural reclamation/maintenance, Public relations, Traditional family values, Renewal of traditional modes of self sufficiency (i.e. community cooperation, arts/crafts, gathering/ gardening, etc.), Research and Document patterns of retreat.assimilation.repression, Abenaki language renewal, and To encourage participation and productivity. GOALS: To renew pride in Native Heritage, To unify Indian families and communities, To develop a Cultural Center, To promote internal/ external awareness and education for, and about, Indian presence in the Northeast, and To document continuing presence and carried tradition, in spite of "the weight of history".

We were issued the EIN # 04 - 3349108 on 02 - 13- 1997 under the name of Intertribal Womens Hoop of Northeast - Alnobak Nebesakiak. We would like the name officially changed/ shortened to ALNOBAK NEBESAKIAK. We are now in the process of submitting a Form 1023, application for Recognition of Exemption under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code under the shortened name of Alnobak Nebeskiak. This application needs to be in agreement with the EIN # title. We are no longer just a woman's organization, but have grown to a viable Native American Abenaki community organization working toward cultural reclamation. maintenance and the promotion of rasiing public awareness of Abenaki presence, past and present.

Articles of Association of Winter Center for Indigenous Traditions. N-09257, dated July 16, 1996. For the purposes of forming a corporation under the Vermont Nonprofit Corporation Act. V.S.A., Title 11, Chapter 19, the undersigned, each of whom are of majority age, hereby subscribe to the following Articles.
Article I: The name of the Association shall be Winter Center for Indigenous Traditions.
Article II: The Association is organized and shall be operated exclusively for charitable, educational, religious and scientific purposes within the meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Cosde to protect and care for the land, life and traditional ways of indigenous peoples.
Article III: No part of the net earnings or assets of the Association shall inure to the benefit of, or be distributable to, its directors, officeres or other private persons, except that the Association shall be authorized and empowered to pay reasonable compensation for services rendered and to make payments and distributions in furtherance of its purposes. No substantial part of the activities of the Association shall consist of the carrying on of propaganda or otherwise attempting to influence Legislation. The Association shall not perticipate or intervene in, nor publish or distribute statements concerning, any political campaign on behalf of any candidate for public office.
The Association shall in no event carry on any activities not permitted to be carried on (i) by an organization exempt from federal income tax under section 501(a) as an organization described in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; (ii) by an organization described in sections 509(a)(1), (2) or (3) of the Internal Revenue Code; and/or (iii) by an organization contributions to which are deductible under sections 170(c)(2), 2055(a)(2) or 2522(a)(2) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Artcle IV: The duration of the Association shall be perpetual.
Article V: The registered agent of the Association shall be John Moody with registered office at RFD 1, Box 440, Sharon, VT 05065.
Article VI: The fiscal year of the Association shall begin on the first day of July in each year and shall ened on the last day of June of the succeeding year.
Article VIII: The Association shall not have authority to issue any shares.
Article VII: The property and affairs of the Association shall be directed and controlled by a board of directors, however denominated in the by-laws of the Association, which shall consist of no less than three persons. Directors may be removed from office with or without cause by the board of directors under procedures set forth in the by-laws of the Association. The persons who are to serve as intial directors until the election of their successors are:

Article IX: Upon dissolution or liquidation of the Association, the board of directors shall, after paying or making provision for the payment of all liabilities and expenses of liquidation, distribute all of the assets of the Association in furtherance of the purpose of the Association to one or more organizations that shall at the time qualify as a governmental unit under section 170(c) of the Internal Revenue Code are as an organization exempt from federal income taxation under section 501(a) as an organization described in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Any assets no so disposed of shall be disposed of by the Suprerior Court of the county in which the principle office of the Association is then located to one or more organization that so qualify.
References herein to sections of the Internal Revenue Code are to provisions of the Internal Reveneue Code of 1986, as amended, or to corresponding provisions of any subsequently enacted United States revenue law.
